The organized voice for every student at the University of Georgia.
Tonight SGA welcomed three student organizations to our bi-weekly open-forum before Senate. UGArden, Designated Dawgs, and a UGA student athlete presented at Senate.
UGArden, a organization that seeks to promote the social, environmental, and nutritional benefits of sustainable gardening through the creation of a student-run community garden, is fighting to prevent the construction of a greenhouse on a portion of their garden. You can join their cause by signing their petition here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-the-farm/.
Designated Dawgs, a student-run non-profit that provides safe, free, non-judgemental rides home to students, is being forced to vacate their office in Downtown Athens. Their space is crucial to their operations which have provided over 74,000 rides to the community. Designated Dawgs receives no funding from the university, if you have any information about donated or discounted office space you can email email@example.com.
Andrew Gemmell, a varsity swimmer at UGA, expressed support for an initiative that would increase student attendance at non-football UGA student athletic events. Gemmell encouraged students to stop by athletic events when at Ramsey or other athletic facilities on campus. A full schedule of UGA Athletic events can be found here: http://www.georgiadogs.com.
SGA encourages students to come to their Open Forum before every Senate at 7 PM to express any concerns or grievances you may have. Senate is held every other Tuesday in MLC 148. Senate will meet on Oct. 15, 22 and Nov. 12.
