Majority of students voting in referendum support green fee increase

Homecoming Green FeeAfter five days open to voting on the Homecoming Ballot, 75.21% students participating in the Homecoming Green Fee Referendum voted in favor of increasing the Green Fee $1 from $3 to $4/semester.

1,771 votes were cast with 1,332 (75.21%) of students voting in favor of the increase and 439 students voting against the increase.

The Director of the Office of Sustainability, Kevin Kirsche, believes this is a significant amount of support.  On Wednesday, Kirsche will work with the Student Government Association to determine the next steps following the referendum.

The last Senate of the fall semester is on Tuesday, November 19 where a more detailed Resolution 26-15 will be proposed.

On November 22, the Mandatory Student Fees Committee will meet and discuss potential increases.  If the committee decides to move forward with an increase to the Green Fee, the proposed increase will go to the Board of Regents.
