ATHENS, Ga. (Mar. 27, 2014)— A debate between the Student Government Association executive ticket candidates will be held on Monday, Mar. 31 at 8:00 p.m. in the Tate Reception Hall, on the first floor of the Tate Student Center.
Moderated by Marco Roca of the Georgia Political Review, this debate will be an opportunity for students to hear from the candidates themselves, answering questions about each ticket’s platform initiatives and qualifications. A staff member from The Red & Black will sit on the panel to field questions submitted to Twitter with the hashtag #UGASGADebate, along with a member from the SGA Elections Committee to provide insight into elections code as needed.
Bridge UGA is the ticket featuring Zek Osibanjo, presidential candidate, Megan Ernst, vice presidential candidate and Shivani Vakharia, treasurer candidate. Zek says he is looking forward to the debate because, “I’ve never done anything like it before, but it’s going to be a great experience. We’ve been working extremely hard on our campaign and platform, so I can’t wait to discuss our ideas!” For more information on Bridge UGA, visit their website at www.bridgeuga.com.
Drew-Jim-Brittany is an executive ticket composed of Drew Jacoby, presidential candidate, Jim Thompson, vice presidential candidate and Brittany Arnold, treasurer candidate.
